Hard drive destruction
All faulty, non-working and under spec drives are destroyed. ICEX Ltd have developed a mobile, four tonne press which can be taken on-site when required.
A 25mm hole is punched through the drive and folds the drive in half to ensure it will not work in its original state. The drives are then granulated and refined to allow the metals to be reused.
Other media
ICEX Ltd ensure all items capable of holding data such as CDs and DVDs, floppy disks, magnetic media such as back-up tapes, flash media and USB storage devices are destroyed. These items are granulated before incineration at London Waste - the heat generated from the process turns water into steam which drives turbines to create electricity. This is fed into the National Grid. 66,000 homes each year are powered by this as well as all the centres on the EcoPark in North London.
